Minot State men skate past Mary in teams’ first D-I meeting

MANDAN, N.D. - the Minot State men's hockey team continued its dominance over in-state rival the University of Mary, but this time in a battle between ACHA Division I programs.

Team captain Carter Barley score the final two goals of the night for the Beavers which proved to be the difference in a 5-3 road victory.

Minot State has lost just once now in 17 meetings with the Marauders.
Troy Hamilton, who also scored a pair of goals for the Beavers (6-0-0 overall) got things started with his first of the night just 2 minutes, 47 seconds into the action.

Eric Krywy's first of the season made it 2-0 late in the first period, then Hamilton pushed the Beavers in front 3-0 with 7:51 gone in period number two.

After the Marauders (1-1-1) got on the board, Barley scored his first of the night, an answering goal just 1:06 after Mary scored for what proved to be the game winner.

After the Marauders closed to 4-2 down in the third, Barley helped ice the win midway through the third with his second of the night.

The Marauders added one more goal, closing to the final 5-3 margin, but could not muster a successful comeback against the Beavers.

Riley Wallace made 20 saves in goal to earn the win for Minot State, which is back in action hosting Missouri State on Thursday at 7 pm at the Maysa Arena in the first of three straight at home.
