CHADRON, Neb. – Minot State's
Bella Hernandez won a pair of matches by pin, leading the way for the Beavers who also got a pair of victories each from
Haleigh Lematta and
Michelle Klein in two duals hosted by Chadron State on Sunday.
Despite the perfect performance by the Beaver trio, Minot State fell 20-16 to Adams State (Colo.) and lost 29-19 to Chadron State.
Hernandez won by pin in 2 minutes, 35 seconds at 130 pounds over Brianna Johnson of Adams State to start her day, then added a win by pin in 1:24 over Shania Wear of Chadron State.
As for Lematta, she started her day with a 14-4 tech fall victory over Marisa Rimbert of Adams State at 143 pounds, then won an 8-2 decision over Karstin Hollen of Chadron State.
As for Klein, after picking up a forfeit victory at 170 pounds against Adams State, she added a win by pin in 2:30 over Hattie Baldwin of Chadron State.
The Beavers (4-5 duals) also got a win by injury default from
Julia Petryna in her 116-pound match against Chadron State, and
Skye Shelmerdine added a win by pin in 1:45 in an extra match over Cassandra Witte of Chadron State.
The pair of duals were the final two matches of the pre-Christmas schedule for Minot State which returns to action on January 7 competing in the Hastings Open tournament.
