CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – The Minot State women continued their season-long dominance of in-state rival Jamestown, and at the perfect time.
Krissy Rink and
Sydney Spicer each scored in the third period to help the 3
rd-ranked Minot State women's hockey team ice a 5-2 win over 12
th-ranked Jamestown and advance to the semifinals of the WMCH Tournament hosted by Maryville.
A goal by
Aspen Cooper put Minot State (21-9-2 overall) on top 1-0 after the first period, then
Gillian Gervin and
Riley Ball each scored in the second period to give the Beavers a 3-2 edge heading into the final stanza.
Rink scored early in the third, then Spicer's power-play goal helped ice the win late for Minot State, which also got 27 saves in goal from
Jordan Ivanco in the victory.
Minot State now olays 2nd-seeded Midland in the semifinals on Friday at 7:45 p.m. The Warriors beat 7th-seeded Lindenwood 4-0 on Thursday.
Top-seeded Liberty, which got a first-round bye, plays 5
th-seeded Maryville at 4:45 p.m. in Friday's first semifinal. The host school picked up a 4-3 overtime win over 4
th-seeded McKendree on Thursday.
