Gervin nets 4 goals as Minot State cruises past Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Riding the momentum of a win at No. 1-ranked Liberty last weekend, the fourth-ranked Minot State women's hockey team cruised past host Jamestown powered by the most goals by one player in the past 4 years.

Gillian Gervin recorded her first collegiate hat trick, netting four goals in the Beavers' 6-2 win Saturday.

The two teams meet again Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Jamestown.

After seeing the host and 13th-ranked Jimmies take a 1-0 lead early in the second, Gervin erased that deficit and put her team in front scoring back-to-back goals to ignite her huge performance.

Jordan Kulbida added a goal late in the second period for a 3-1 Minot State (17-8-1 overall) advantage, but Jamestown (8-15-0) answered early in the third making it briefly interesting.

Gervin then completed her hat trick with 8 minutes, 3 seconds left in the third before Riley Ball pushed Minot State's lead to 5-2 with a goal of her own.

Gervin then finished off her phenomenal game with a fourth and final goal with 2:43 left on the clock for the 6-2 win.

Jordan Ivanco made 19 saves in goal in the win for Minot State.
