MAUSTON, Wis. – The Beavers got a shutout performance from a trio of pitchers, helping Minot State rebound and split an NSIC doubleheader on the road against host Concordia, St. Paul.
Minot State (18-8 overall, 7-5 NSIC) took the nightcap 3-0 as Bryant Bagshaw, Jonah Prokott, and Austin Loeb combined on a four-hit shutout.
The host Golden Bears took the neutral-site opener 7-2.
The two teams wrap up their three-game series on Monday with a single game at noon.  
GAME 1 | Concordia-Saint Paul 7, Minot State 2
MAUSTON, Wis. -- Junior Brent Riddle collected four hits, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the Concordia, Saint Paul Golden Bears 7-2 on Sunday.
Junior Trevyn Badger (2-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Minot State. Junior Noah Balandran was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two innings, surrendering one run on one hit.
Riddle's four-hit day led the Beavers offensively. Junior Javier Gutierrez put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-3 with a double. Junior Mark Ossanna also contributed for Minot State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 6-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Gutierrez came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board.
The Beavers deficit expanded to 7-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. Ossanna came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State, which tightened the Golden Bears lead to 7-2. Bagshaw (5-1) started and picked up the win for Minot State, going six shutout innings while giving up two hits, walking five, and striking out five. Prokott was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going two shutout innings, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out two.
Offensively, the Beavers were paced by senior Derek Kay, who went 3-for-5 on the day with two doubles and two RBI. Junior Brent Riddle put together a standout performance as well, going 2-for-4 with a double. Junior Derrick Winn also chipped in for Minot State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
