ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Freshman Azalya Lopez and junior Evey Evans combined to throw a shutout on Thursday as the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons blanked the Minot State Beavers 3-0 in an elimination game at the NSIC Tournament on Thursday morning.
The loss ends the season for the Beavers (30-23 overall).
Freshman Kierra Fournier (6-9) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss. The right-hander went four innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out three.
Freshman Paige Kellogg led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lopez helped herself with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to snap a scoreless tie, then Jordey Brown-Smith doubled in two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to give the Dragons their 3-0 lead.
Minot State went a total of 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Beavers last got a runner on third in the seventh, when sophomore Hannah Murray made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
