KENOSHA, Wis. – The Minot State men's wrestling team put in a strong showing but in the end, the Beavers could not topple fourth-ranked Parkside on its home mat as the Rangers won an NSIC dual Saturday, 32-15.
Brendan Barnes and
Cannon Potts led the way for Minot State (6-5 duals, 2-2 NSIC) as both earned wins by pin on the night, while teammate
Jake Swirple added a third victory for the Beavers.
Barnes pinned Parkside's Brady Schuh in 3 minutes, 33 seconds in their 165-pound match for the first win of the evening for the Beavers.
Potts followed that up with a pin in 1:13 over the Rangers' Crosby Schlosser at 197 pounds.
Swirple then wrapped up the night for the Beavers with a 5-0 decision win over Parkside's Lloyd Reynolds.
The Beavers next compete a bit closer to home as they face in-state rival the University of Mary next Sunday afternoon in Bismarck. The dual is an NSIC counter for both teams who squared off in a non-conference match-up at the MSU Dome back in December, a dual won by the Marauders, 29-12.
