MINOT, N.D. – Two of the younger teams in women's wrestling met on the mats Friday night at the Minot Municipal Auditorium, and in the end the visiting Sioux Falls Cougars came up victorious.
The host Minot State Beavers got a win by pin from
Keela Kary, but that was it as they fell 42-6 to the Cougars.
The Sioux Falls program is in its first season and Minot State is in its second year.
The match was the final dual of the season for Minot State (6-8 duals), which next competes at the Grand View Open on next Saturday, Feb. 3, before heading into the postseason and the NCWWC Region Tournament at the end of February.
Kary's pin came in 1 minute, 56 seconds in her 136-pound match against the Cougars' Mackenzie Armagost.
Minot State also got a single team point from
Haleigh Lematta, who dropped an 11-7 decision at 155 pounds to Brinley Green.
