LAS VEGAS - The No. 1-ranked Minot State men's hockey team got revenge on the opponent that handed them their first loss of the season, completing a weekend sweep of host UNLV with a 5-0 shutout victory late Saturday night.
Riley Wallace got the start in goal and earned his second shutout of the season for the Beavers (19-4-0 overall) who skated to a thrilling 5-4 shootout win Friday night, as well.
The Beavers didn't need extra time Saturday, though, as
Reece Henry put Minot State on top late in the first period with the game-winner, and
Trenton Curtis made it 2-0 with 1 minute, 37 seconds left before the first intermission.
Troy Hamilton and
Matthew Yakubowski added second-period goals for the Beavers and
Ben Johnson's goal early in the third period helped ice the win.
Minot State now returns home for a midweek match-up with in-state rival the University of Mary on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Maysa Arena.
