Minot State Completes Perfect Weekend with 2-0 Win Over Minnesota Crookston

CROOKSTON, Minn. – Minot State capped off a successful road weekend with a 2-0 shutout victory over Minnesota Crookston at UMC Soccer Field on Sunday. The win improves the Beavers' record to 6-2-4 overall and 4-2-3 in NSIC play, as they return home with six valuable points from their perfect weekend.

How it Happened
Minot State started strong, taking an early 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when Manuela Pacheco Martinez found the back of the net with her first goal of the season. Her unassisted goal gave the Beavers early momentum, though they struggled to generate further chances in the first half.
In the second half, Minot State picked up the pace, creating more opportunities. Anna Miotto added to the lead in the 66th minute, converting a penalty kick to make it 2-0 after Brooke Wersland helped set up the chance. Miotto's goal, her third of the season, sealed the victory, as the Beavers maintained their defensive composure.

Minot State's defense was crucial in securing their seventh clean sheet of the season. Morgen Fried played a significant role in holding off Minnesota Crookston's attack, contributing to the team's dominant defensive performance.

Game Notes

  • Goalkeeper Siriana Gudino secured her seventh clean sheet of the season, making three saves as the Beavers limited Crookston to just three total shots.
  • Minot State dominated with 17 shots 12 of those on goal.
  • Anna Miotto was highly active, finishing the match with four shots, three of which were on target, and converting the penalty kick to make it 2-0.

Coach's Comments
Head Coach T.J. Perez praised the team's effort:
"Good game today, Manuela Pacheco Martinez got us into the lead early in the game. We needed to be more dangerous in the first half and shoot. Second half, we found our rhythm and were taking shots and creating good opportunities with 11 shots and 8 of those being on target in the second half. Great weekend overall, and coming back home with six points this weekend feels great."
Minot State now returns home after a strong weekend on the road, ready to continue their push in the NSIC standings.
