MINOT, N.D. - The Minot State Beavers women's hockey team took down #4 Midland in a shutout 3-0 on Sunday, October 27, to sweep the weekend series and improve their record to 6-2-0.
Morgan Baker's flawless performance in goal for the Beavers was the story of the game for Minot State as Baker shutout a strong #4 Midland team with 39 saves on 39 shots on goal.
The first period was a quiet one for both teams as the goalies for both Minot State and Midland kept the score at 0-0.
Mia Mckee got the scoring started at 10:37 into the second period to put the Beavers ahead 1-0. Only 2 minutes and 7 seconds later,
Paige Kozak found the back of the net to increase the Beavers lead to 2-0.
Paige Ackerman added the Beavers third goal of the game on a power play at 11:52 into the third period.
Olivia Opheim,
Addison Dyck,
Krissy Rink, and
Makenna Beard were all credited with assists.
Morgan Baker led the way in goal for the Beavers as Baker had 39 saves on 39 shots on goal to secure the victory.
The Beavers penalty kill unit was incredibly strong in today's game as Midland was 0 for 4 on the power play.
Minot State will be back in action against #11 Lindenwood University on Friday, November 1, at 3:45 pm, and Saturday, November 2, at 3:45 pm at the Maysa Arena.
