Beavers fall in a shootout against #4 Adrian College

MINOT, N.D. - The Minot State Beavers women's hockey team fell to #4 Adrian College on Saturday, November 16, in a shootout. Regulation and the overtime period weren't enough in this game as the two teams went into the shootout with a score of 2-2. With the shootout loss, the #6 Beavers fall to 10-4-1 on the season, while #4 Adrian college improves to 13-3-1. 

The first period was a quiet one as each goalie held both teams scoreless. Morgan Baker held Adrian College scoreless with 10 saves on 10 shots on goal, and Amanda Storey held Minot State scoreless with 12 saves on 12 shots on goal. 

Adrian College got on the board first on a goal scored by Makenzie Villiard at 18:33 into the second period to take a 0-1 lead. Amanda Storey held the Beavers scoreless in the second period with 8 saves on 8 shots on goal.

The Beavers knotted the game up at 1-1 at 3:46 into the third period on a power play goal scored by Journey Miller. Adrian College took a 1-2 lead on a power play goal scored by Hailey Wiltshire at 5:35 into the period. Minot State would once again tie the game up at 2-2 on a power play goal scored by Journey Miller, her second goal of the game, at 8:49 into the period. Regulation would not be enough as the two teams would head to overtime. 

Neither team would be able to find the back of the net in the overtime period as the two goaltenders once again played an incredibly strong period. Morgan Baker tallied 5 saves on 5 shots on goal for the Beavers, and Amanda Storey tallied 9 saves on 9 shots on goal for Adrian College. With a 2-2 tie through overtime, this game would head to a shootout.

Adrian College would go on to win the shootout 1-0 to secure the win over the Beavers.

Paige Ackerman, Payton Lang (2), and Krissy Rink were credited with assists in the game. Morgan Baker had an incredibly strong performance in goal for the Beavers, tallying 33 saves on 35 shots on goal. 

The Beavers will be back in action on the road in Lynchburg, Virginia for a three-game series against #1 Liberty University. Game one is on Thursday, November 21, at 7:30 pm, game two is on Friday, November 22, at 6:30 pm, and game three is on Saturday, November 23, at 6:30 pm.
