CHESTERFIELD, MO - The Minot State Beavers men's hockey team fell to #7 Liberty University 2-5 in game two of the Maryville Showcase. This loss ends the impressive 11 game win streak for the #2 Beavers dropping their record to 14-2-1 on the season, while Liberty improves to 11-5-2.
The Beavers drew first blood in the first period on a power play goal scored by
Matthew Yakubowski at 11:31 into the period to make the score 1-0. Liberty was held scoreless in the first period by Minot State's goaltender,
Jake Anthony, with 12 saves on 12 shots on goal.
Minot State got the scoring started in the second period on a goal scored by
Trenton Curtis at 6:00 into the period to increase the Beaver's lead to 2-0. Liberty got on the board at 15:37 into the period on a goal scored by Kal Essenmacher to cut Minot's lead down to 2-1. Liberty tied the game up at 2-2 on a power play goal scored by Jackson Vercellono at 19:57 into the period.
Liberty took a 2-3 lead at 2:15 into the third period on a goal scored by Hayden DeMars. Liberty increased their lead to 2-4 on a power play goal scored by Jacob Kalandyk at 10:21 into the period. Liberty extended their lead to 2-5 on an empty net goal scored by Maguire Ratzlaff at 18:28 into the period to seal the win for Liberty.

Joey Moffatt (2), and
Christian Kadolph were credited with assists in the game.
The Beavers will be back in action on Saturday, November 23, at 3:45 pm against #8 Maryville University in game three of the Maryville Showcase.
