CHESTERFIELD, MO - The Minot State Beavers men's hockey team tied in regulation 2-2 and lost in the shootout 3-4 against #8 Maryville University in the final day of the Maryville Showcase on Saturday, November 23. With the shootout loss, the #2 Beavers fall to 14-2-2, while #8 Maryville University improves to 11-6-3.
The Beavers got the scoring started in the first period on a power play goal scored by
Jay Buchholz at 9:18 into the period to give Minot a 1-0 lead. Maryville was held scoreless in the first period by Minot State's goalie, Will Dyke, who had 8 saves on 8 shots on goal.
The Beavers extended their lead to 2-0 at 8:40 into the second period on a goal scored by
Walker Jerome. Maryville cut the Beaver's lead down to 2-1 at 9:35 into the period on a goal scored by Will Smith.
Liberty tied the game up at 2-2 at 15:13 into the third period on a goal scored by Campbell Mclean.
Both teams were scoreless in the overtime period to send the game to a shootout. After a 23-player shootout, Minot would fall to Maryville by a final shootout score of 3-4.

The Beavers will be back in action on Friday, December 6, against #1 University of Jamestown at 3:30 pm in Jamestown, North Dakota. The Beavers will also be in action on Saturday, December 7, against Jamestown at 7:30 pm at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds (All Seasons Arena) in Minot, North Dakota.
