O'FALLON, IL - The Minot State Beavers women's hockey team defeated #3 McKendree University 2-1 on Saturday, November 9, to go 3-0 at the WMCH. Coming into this game, the Beavers shutout the University of Minnesota 2-0 on Friday, November 8. With today's win, the Beavers improved their record to 10-3-0, while McKendree dropped to 14-3-0 on the season. The Beavers are currently on a 4 game winning streak.
The first period was all Minot State as the Beavers scored two goals in the first 20 minutes and held McKendree scoreless. The Beavers first goal was scored on the power play by
Mia Mckee at 8:06 into the period to give Minot State a 1-0 lead. The Beavers second goal was scored on the power play by
Olivia Opheim at 9:33 into the period to put Minot State on top 2-0.
Haylie Biever kept McKendree scoreless in the first period with 2 saves on 2 shots on goal.
In the second period, McKendree answered with a goal of their own scored by Aria Groot at 1:41 into the period to make the score 2-1 in favor of Minot State. The Beavers were held scoreless in the second period by McKendree's goaltender, Rachel Staresinic, who tallied 3 saves on 3 shots on goal.
The Beavers were able to hold McKendree scoreless in the third period to secure the 2-1 victory for the Beavers.
Haylie Biever tallied 5 saves on 5 shots on goal in the third period for the Beavers.

Haylie Biever led the way in goal for the Beavers with 15 saves on 15 shots on goal to improve her record to 4-2-0 on the season.
Following today's 2-1 victory over #3 McKendree, the Beavers will be back in action at home at the Maysa Arena in a two-game series against Adrian College.
