JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The Minot State Beavers women's hockey team defeated #14 University of Jamestown 2-1 in overtime on Saturday, December 7. This win in game two of a two-game road series against Jamestown gives Minot the sweep and makes the Beavers 4-0-0 against Jamestown on the season. The Beavers record now improves to 13-5-2, while the Jimmies fall to 4-10-3.
Jamestown opened up the scoring in the first period on a goal scored by Gabriella Schroder at 5:28 into the period.
The second period belonged to the goalies as both teams were held scoreless through the period.
The Beavers tied the game at 1-1 at 3:55 into the third period on a goal scored by
Cameron Schmidt, her first goal on the season. Minot State's goalie,
Jillian Ackerman, held Jamestown scoreless through the third period to send the game into overtime.
Paige Ackerman scored the game winning goal for the Beavers with a short handed, empty net goal at 4:54 into the overtime period to make the final score 2-1.
Makena Welby was credited with an assist in the game.
Jillian Ackerman led the way in goal for the Beavers tallying 34 saves on 35 shots on goal to improve her record to 2-0-0 on the season.
Following the two-game series sweep over Jamestown, the Beavers will be back in action on Saturday, December 14, against Dakota College at Bottineau at 3:45 pm at the ND State Fairgrounds (All Seasons Arena) in Minot, North Dakota.
