MINOT, ND -- Colton Bagshaw and Ricky Apodaca each racked up three hits to help power the Minot State Beavers offense while Jonah Prokott dominated on the hill, leading the past the Saint Cloud State Huskies 5-3 on Sunday in NSIC action at Corbett Field.
 
Prokott (4-1) started on the mound and picked up the win for Minot State (15-29 overall, 12-22 NSIC). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out two. Noah Balandran also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing one shutout inning while allowing no hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.
 
In addition to his three hits, Apodaca had a double, a triple and an RBI to lead the Beavers, along with Bagshaw's three base knocks. Grant Gabbert also helped out for Minot State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
 
The win was the final home game for the Beavers who play an NSIC doubleheader at Bemidji State rescheduled for Wednesday, then wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader Friday at Augustana and a single game against the Vikings on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with runs in the bottom of the first inning. Minot State plated two runs off of Saint Cloud State pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Apodaca. Grant Gabbert singled home the other run for the 2-0 lead.
 
The Huskies then tied the ballgame at two before the Beavers came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Seugjun Song came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State, which brought the Beavers lead to 3-2, on a Brian Parry sacrifice fly.
 
Minot State held Saint Cloud State scoreless before expanding their lead to 5-2 the following inning as Mark Ossanna scored on a fielding error and Song added an RBI single. Saint Cloud State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over but Minot State still held on for the 5-3 win.
