SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Brent Riddle led the way with a pair of RBIs in the opener while Ricky Apodaca and Noah Madas each drove in a pair of runs in the nightcap, but it wasn't enough as the Minot State baseball team dropped both games of an NSIC doubleheader to host Augustana late Friday.
The Beavers (15-33 overall, 12-26 NSIC) fell 15-2 win in the first game and lost 13-6 in the nightcap to the Vikings.
The two teams meet in a single game at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the season finale for Minot State.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Junior Brent Riddle put together an outstanding outing at the plate Friday, hitting two home runs, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the No. 12 Augustana Vikings 15-2.
Senior Craig Schmich (2-9) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss. Freshman Conner Meldrim was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one inning, giving up two runs, zero earned, on one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.
Riddle went 2-for-3 at the plate, supplementing his two home runs with two RBIs. Senior Mark Ossanna added to Riddle's awesome power-hitting performance by going 1-for-2 with a double along with one walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Riddle put Minot State on the board with a one-out solo home run off sophomore Ashton Michek.
The Vikings then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead before the Beavers got back on the board in the fourth. Minot State picked up a run on Riddle's leadoff home run off of Michek, which tightened the Vikings lead to 3-2. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as Augustana added 12 runs to their tally on the way to a 15-2 final.

Senior Trevyn Badger (1-7) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss. Freshman Ayden Sauerbrei was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 2.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits, with no walks and seven strikeouts.
In addition to his three hits, Bagshaw had a double to lead the Beavers. Senior Ricky Apodaca put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and two RBI. Sophomore Noah Madas also chipped in for Minot State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 4-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Minot State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Madas.
The Vikings then scored two runs to retake their advantage heading into the fourth inning, when the Beavers responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. Minot State pushed across a run on Apodaca's two-out RBI double, which tightened the Vikings lead to 6-5.
Augustana expanded its lead to 9-5 before the Minot State offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 9-6 in the fifth. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as Augustana added four runs to their tally on the way to a 13-6 final.
