FREMONT, Neb. – The season opener didn't quite go the way the Beavers wanted Friday night in Nebraska.
Playing a tough rival in No. 4-ranked Midland, which already had two games under its belt, the 3
rd-ranked Minot State women's hockey team battled but came up short, 2-0 in its season debut.
Jaicee Huberdeau had both goals in the game for the Warriors (3-0-0 overall), scoring the game-winner midway through the first period and adding an insurance goal late in the second.
Haylie Biever made 34 saves in goal for Minot State (0-1-0), which will battle Midland in a rematch on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
