JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Three pins for the Beavers proved to be just enough for victory Wednesday night on the road.
The Minot State women's wrestling team completed a season sweep of in-state rival Jamestown as the teams tied 20-20 in their dual, but the tie-breaker went to the Beavers who won three of the five matches contested on the mats.
Jamestown picked up two wins by pin and two forfeit wins, Minot State received a forfeit victory, and the two other matches were double forfeits.
Keela Kary,
Nina Sandoval, and
Madilyn Schuck led the way to the victory for Minot State (3-5 duals) as each won their respective match by pin.
Kary won her match at 131 pounds by pin in 45 seconds against Nora Houglum, while Sandoval won in 1 minute, 35 seconds in her 180-pound match against Celia Jaeger, and Schuck won in 1:43 in her 207-pound match against Grace Todhunter.
Claiming those three victories provided the Beavers with the team win as both teams scored 20 points, sending the dual to the tie-breaker with the first criteria being total individual match wins.
Megan Ebach added a win by forfeit for Minot State at 138 pounds.
Minot State, which also beat the Jimmies 22-15 back in November at the Beaver Bash Duals, now heads to Nebraska for the York Open on Saturday.
