#4 ranked Beavers head to Nebraska for a two-game series against #5 Midland University

MINOT, N.D. - The #4 ranked Minot State Beavers women's hockey team is headed to Fremont, Nebraska, to take on #5 Midland University in a two-game series. Game one is scheduled for Friday, January 17, at 5:00 pm, and game two is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, at 4:00 pm. Going into this series, the Beavers hold a record of 16-5-2, while Midland holds a record of 15-4-1 on the season. 

The Beavers are coming off of a huge weekend in which they swept #3 Maryville University in a two-game series. On Friday, January 10, the Beavers defeated Maryville 3-2 in an overtime thriller in game one. On Saturday, January 11, the Beavers defeated Maryville in game two with a final score of 3-1 to secure the two-game series sweep. After sweeping the #3 ranked team, Minot State will be looking to ride their momentum into this weekend's series against #5 Midland. 

This weekend's two-game series against Midland will mark the fifth and sixth games that these two teams have played against one another this season. To open up the season, the Beavers dropped both games to Midland in Nebraska. The Beavers then hosted Midland on October 26 and October 27 where they went on to sweep Midland in the two-game series. Coming into this series, both teams are 2-2-0 against one another, and will be looking for bragging rights in their final regular season match-ups. 

Players to watch:

Journey Miller is the leading Beavers forward in points scored with 21 points on the season. Journey Miller and Paige Kozak are the leading Beaver forwards in goals scored with each having 10 goals on the season. Makenna Beard and Abby Pineau will be the leading defensemen with each having 3 goals on the season, and Beard tallying 10 points on the season. Haylie Biever and Jillian Ackerman lead the way in the goal for the Beavers with Biever holding a record of 6-4-2 with a 0.937 save percentage, and Ackerman holding a record of 4-0-0 with a 0.972 save percentage. 

Following the two-game series against #5 Midland University, the Beavers will be back in action at home against Niagara University in a two-game series. Game one is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, at 4:00 pm at the Maysa Arena (Eck Rink), and game two is scheduled for Sunday, January 26, at 2:00 pm at the Maysa Arena.
