FREMONT, NE - The Minot State Beavers women's hockey team dropped game two of a two-game series against Midland University on Saturday, January 18, with a final score of 1-4. With the win, Midland improves to 17-4-1, while Minot State moves to 16-7-2 on the season.
Midland took a 0-1 lead at 9:47 into the first period on a goal scored by Katie McNair. Midland extended their lead to 0-2 on a power play goal scored by Rylee Martin at 13:52 into the period.
The second period was a quiet 20 minutes of play as neither team was able to score a goal.
Minot State cut the deficit to 1-2 on a goal scored by
Cameron Schmidt and assisted by
Makena Welby at 11:22 into the third period. Midland took a 1-3 lead at 18:16 into the period on an empty net goal scored by Callie Maguire. Midland extended their lead to 1-4 on an additional empty net goal scored by Callie Maguire, her second goal of the game, at 19:41 into the period to secure the 1-4 victory for Midland.
Following the two-game series against Midland University, the Beavers will be back in action at home against Niagara University in a two-game series. Game one is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, at 4:00 pm at the Maysa Arena (Eck Rink), and game two is scheduled for Sunday, January 26, at 2:00 pm at the Maysa Arena.
