JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The #1 ranked Minot State Beavers men's hockey team scored 3 unanswered goals to defeat the University of Jamestown in overtime by a final score of 3-2 on Friday, January 31. With the win, the Beavers improve their record to 29-2-3, while the University of Jamestown falls to 19-11-1.Â
The University of Jamestown jumped out to a 0-1 lead at 7:53 into the first period on a goal scored by Darius Makse. Jamestown extended their lead to 0-2 at 11:19 into the period on a power play goal scored by Darius Makse, his second goal of the game.Â
The Beavers cut Jamestown's lead down to 1-2 on a goal scored by
Brett Tataryn at 4:36 into the second period. Minot State tied the game at 2-2 on a power play goal scored by
Trenton Curtis at 16:02 into the period. The Beaver's goalie,
Jake Anthony, held Jamestown scoreless in the second period, tallying 9 saves on 9 shots on goal.Â
Both Jamestown and Minot State were held scoreless in the third period thanks to each teams' goalies.
Jake Anthony tallied 4 saves on 4 shots on goal for the Beavers, and Brandon Weare tallied 19 saves on 19 shots on goal for the Jimmies.Â
At 2:05 into the overtime period,
Brayden Pawluk scored the game-winning power play goal for Minot State to secure the 3-2 victory.Â

Following the 3-2 overtime victory over the University of Jamestown, the Beavers will be back in action at home in a two-game series against Maryville University. Game one is scheduled for Friday, February 7, at 7:30 pm, and game two is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, at 7:30 pm. For game one, the Beavers will be hosting Agriculture Night sponsored by Farmers Choice Seed, and for game two, the Beavers will be celebrating Senior Night.
