JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The 3
rd-ranked Minot State men's hockey team started its season with a strong effort to earn a road win Friday night.
Erasing a 1-0 deficit, the Beavers skated away with a 3-2 comeback victory over host and 6
th-ranked Jamestown in MCH action, and in the first game of a home-and-home series with the Jimmies.
The two teams meet again Saturday in Minot at the Maysa Arena to wrap up their weekend series. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
Down 1-0 in the second period, the Beavers (1-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 MCH) answered 47 seconds after the Jimmies (4-1-0, 2-1-0) opened the scoring when
Walker Jerome scored off assists from
Logan Cyca and
Matt Egan.
Joey Moffatt then netted a power-play goal with 52 seconds left in the second, putting the Beavers in front for good.
Logan Rands and
Kieran Cooke assisted on the goal.
Colby Joseph then pushed the lead to 3-1 with 8:11 gone in the third, off a
Slade Stanick assist, then Minot State held on to net the season-opening win.
William Dyke finished with 24 saves in goal for the Beavers to earn the victory.
