MINOT, N.D. – Minot State sophomore goalie
Jillian Ackerman was perfect, and her teammates were equally outstanding Friday night.
Ackerman stopped all 20 shots she faced, and the Beavers skated away with a 3-0 win over Maryville at the Maysa Arena in the opening of a two-game weekend series between the teams.
Minot State hosts Maryville again at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Maysa Arena to wrap up the weekend.
Ackerman turned aside all 10 shots she faced in a scoreless first period, then her teammates put her in front for good as
Avary Lazarenko scored her first collegiate goal with 3 minutes, 47 seconds gone in the second period off an
Olivia Opheim assist.
That proved to be the game-winner as Ackerman turned aside the next 10 shots she faced, as well, for 20 saves total in her first shutout of the season.
The Beavers (2-1-0 overall, 2-1-0 WMCH) added some insurance, though, as
Erica Fijala scored an unassisted goal with 11:32 left in the second period and
Abby Tallman iced it with a goal with 4:51 remaining in the third, off an
Addison Dyck assist, for the final 3-0 margin.
