Strong goaltending leads Beavers to 0-0 tie in game one against Adrian College

ADRIAN, MI -- The #2 Minot State Beavers women's hockey team battled to a hard-fought scoreless draw against #9 Adrian College on Thursday night. With the tie, the Beavers move to 2-2-1 on the season, while Adrian College's record shifts to 3-4-2.

Both teams played a tight defensive game from start to finish, with neither side able to find the back of the net through regulation or overtime.

Minot State goaltender Jillian Ackerman was outstanding between the pipes, turning aside all 27 shots she faced to earn the shutout. This was the second shutout for Ackerman this season. At the other end, Adrian's Rieley Jessie-Gerelli matched her effort, stopping 34 shots to keep the Beavers off the scoreboard.

The Beavers outshot the Bulldogs 34-27, generating consistent pressure throughout the game, including 14 shots in the third period alone. Both teams' penalty kills were sharp, as Minot State went 0-for-2 on the power play while successfully killing all five Adrian opportunities.

Following the overtime draw in game one, the Beavers will look to secure a series win when they face Adrian College again on Friday, October 17, at 1:00 pm ET in game two of the two-game set.
