WAYNE, Neb. – Junior
Jake Jenkins and senior
Emery Smith have been the team leaders all season long for the Beavers, and were once again on Friday as both turned in a Top-50 finish for Minot State at the NSIC Cross Country Championships hosted by Wayne State.
Jenkins finished 44
th individually in the men's championship race, and Smith was 49
th in the women's championship race, setting the pace for the Beavers, who finished 12
th as a team on the men's side and 13
th for the women.
Winona State swept the titles on the women's side as Sophia Taarud was the individual NSIC Champion, finishing the 6-kilometer course in 21 minutes, 19.6 seconds, leading the Warriors to the team title with 28 points.
On the men's side, Jared Gregoire from Minnesota State Moorhead was the individual champion, finishing the men's 8K course in 24:58.0, while Augustana claimed the men's team title with 27 points.
The Minot State men were 12
th with 343 points, led by Jenkins, who finished 44
th in 26:53.75.
Holter Bridwell was next for the Beavers, finishing 59
th in 27:20.84, then came
Camden Jasmin, who was 108
th in 28:52.49,
Peyton Tuhy, who was 112
th in 29:04.36, and
Nikita Neyshtadt rounded out Minot State's scoring finishers in 117
th in 29:11.51.
Freshman
Nolan Berglof was 123
rd in his first NSIC Championship meet in 29:37.83,
Zander Grover finished 129
th in 29:59.18 for the Beavers,
Isaac Rathbun was 142
nd in 31:39.55, and
Auston Lemer finished 145
th in 33:18.82.
The Minot State women finished 13
th with 337 points as Smith led the way in 49
th in 24:00.90, with teammate
Bailey Wride right behind her, finishing 53
rd in 24:09.10.
Julie Folk was next for the Beavers as she was 85
th in 24:53.70, then came
Nicole Reeves, who was 106
th in 26:16.30, and
Afton Wride rounded out the team scores, finishing 112
th in 26:31.90.
Addyson Wendt finished 132
nd in 27:15.40 and
Natalie Becker was 132
nd in 28:41.80 for the Minot State women.
The NSIC Championship was the first of two championship meets this fall for the Minot State cross-country teams, who now get two weeks off to prepare for the NCAA Central Region Championship, hosted Saturday, November 8, in Joplin, Missouri.
