MINOT, N.D. – For the fourth time in 10 days, the Minot State women's hockey team left the ice with a tie.
The 7
th-ranked Beavers erased a one-goal deficit in the final period but had to settle for a 2-2 tie with visiting Arizona State on Saturday in the teams' first-ever meeting.
Minot State (3-2-4 overall) and the Sun Devils (4-0-1) met again at 1 p.m. on Sunday to wrap up their weekend series.
Midway through the opening period, the Beavers jumped in front on a short-handed goal by 
Journey Miller, but the 4
th-ranked Sun Devils answered with a late goal in the first, then one midway through the second.
Battling back, 
Makenna Beard tied it for the hosts with 1:26 gone in the third period, off assists by 
Carlin Zant and 
Olivia Opheim.
From there, neither team scored again in regulation, nor the 5-minute overtime period, officially ending the game in a tie before a shootout.
Arizona State won the shootout as Breanne Powell had the lone goal.
Jillian Ackerman finished with 30 saves on the day in goal for Minot State.
