JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Beavers' offense exploded early, netting four first-period goals to spark a 5-3 win on the road over Jamestown.
The victory completed a weekend sweep for No. 4-ranked Minot State, which beat No. 10 Jamestown 3-0 on Friday night, as well.
Kaitlyn Snyder got things rolling for the Beavers (6-2-5 overall, 4-2- WMCH), scoring 3 minutes, 58 seconds into the action.
The game stayed 1-0 for about 8 more minutes before a goal-rush for Minot State as
Kinley Brassard scored her first collegiate goal with 8:18 left in the first, then
Abby Tallman scored at the 16:10 mark, and a
Krissy Rink goal pushed the Beavers' lead to 4-0 with 2:15 left in the opening stanza.
Jamestown got on the board with 43 seconds left in the first, then added a second-period goal before
Olivia Kirwan netted one more for Minot State with 5:19 left before the second intermission.
That proved to be enough as the Jimmies netted one late in third but could not get any closer.
Bailey Grunewald made 18 saves in goal, earning her second collegiate win for Minot State, which now returns home to the Maysa Arena to host No. 1-ranked Liberty next weekend with puck-drop at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
