Minot State Women's Wrestling turned in a strong performance at the Beaver Bash Open on Saturday, earning five total podium finishes highlighted by individual titles from
Haleigh Lematta and
Lillian Garrett.
Lematta dominated the 145-pound bracket, opening her day with a 12-0 tech fall over Ciana Grate (USF) before securing pins against Ligaya Stinellis (Saskatchewan) in just one minute and Savannah Brehm (DSU). in 3:56 to claim the championship. Garrett added the Beavers' second title with an equally impressive showing at 180 pounds, pinning Bridgette Price (DSU) in 40 seconds and following it with another fall against Emily Novak (UJ) in 3:52.
At 103 pounds,
Kaiya Lopes battled her way to runner-up finish, rebounding from an early setback against Brianna Vollendroff (CSC) with a quick pin over Jennifer Verdin (BSC) in 55 seconds. Minot State also secured two third-place performances on the day.
Aniya Herbin took third at 207 pounds, bouncing back from a loss to Zoe Adam (USF) with a pin over teammate
Dahlia Silva in 2:43 and a tight 4-3 decision over Isabella Urias (DSU).
Puakela Beebe delivered a strong run the third at 138 pounds, responding to an early fall with three straight wins: a 10-0 tech fall over Ember Waters (DSU), a 10-7 decision over Tiara Faehnrich (DWU), and a pin against Alexis Lavers (Saskatchewan) in 4:17.
The Beavers' five podium finishes capped a successful day on their home mats as the program continues to build momentum early in the season.
