Minot State wrapped up its dual against University of Mary on Friday night, falling 45-7, but the Beavers earned two strong individual victories both coming in the upper weights and highlighted by a team-leading performance from
Shafer Ehmke.
At 174 pounds,
Gavin Turk secured Minot State's first win of the night in one of the dual's most tightly contested match ups. Turk remained composed throughout and used a critical second-period take down to edge out a 4-2 decision, putting the Beavers on the board.
At 197 pounds, Ehmke delivered Minot State's top scoring performance, dominating his match from start to finish on the way to a 15-5 major decision. His effort earned the Beavers four team points, the highest individual contribution of the dual.
Thought the overall result favored University of Mary, Minot State's late surge in the upper weights showed promising grit and competitiveness.
