MINOT, N.D. - The #6 ranked Minot State Beavers women's hockey secured the Senior weekend sweep with a 3-0 shutout victory over the University of Jamestown in game two on Saturday, February 15. With the win, the Beavers improve their record to 22-7-2, while Jamestown falls to 7-15-7.
The Beavers opened up the scoring at 10:48 into the first period on a power play goal scored by
Paige Ackerman to take a 1-0 lead. Minot State's goalie,
Jillian Ackerman, held Jamestown scoreless in the first period, tallying 2 saves on 2 shots on goal.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second period, giving Minot State a 1-0 lead through the first 40 minutes of play.
Jillian Ackerman tallied 11 saves on 11 shots on goal, and Jamestown's goalie, Lilah Drew, tallied 13 saves on 13 shots on goal.
At 2:39 into the third period, the Beavers extended their lead to 2-0 on a power play goal scored by
Abby Tallman. At 16:32 into the third period, Jamestown pulled their goalie, and at 17:24 into the period, Minot State increased their lead to 3-0 on an empty net goal scored by
Olivia Opheim.
Jillian Ackerman tallied 13 saves on 13 shots on goal in the third period to secure the 3-0 shutout victory over Jamestown.

Jillian Ackerman led the way in goal for the Beavers, tallying 26 saves on 26 shots on goal to secure the shutout victory, improving her record to 9-1-0.
Following the Senior weekend sweep over the University of Jamestown, the Beavers will be back in action on the road in the WMCH Conference Tournament in O'Fallon, Illinois. Game times are TBA at this time, but the tournament runs from Thursday, February 20 through Saturday, February 22.
