#1 ranked Beavers set to open up ACHA National Tournament play against Purdue University Northwest

MINOT, ND - The #1 ranked Minot State Beavers men's hockey team is set to begin ACHA National Tournament play against #17 Purdue University Northwest in round one on Friday, March 14, at 8:00 pm in St. Louis, Missouri. With a win over Purdue University Northwest, the Beavers will play in the quarterfinals on Sunday, March 16 at 8:00 pm. The semifinals will be held on Monday, March 17, and the championship game will be held on Tuesday, March 18. The ACHA National Tournament is being play in St. Louis, Missouri, at the Centene Community Ice Center and Maryville University Hockey Center. Minot State currently holds a 36-2-3 regular season record, and Purdue University Northwest currently holds a 15-11-4 regular season record. 

To gear up for ACHA National Tournament play, the Beavers recently took on in-state rival, the University of Jamestown, in an exhibition game on Wednesday, March 5, at the Maysa Arena. In the exhibition game, the Beavers were able to come out on top, securing a 3-2 victory over the Jimmies. This win was further proof that Minot State is ready to go after their 4th national title. 

This match-up against Purdue University Northwest is the first time that these two teams have ever played one another. On Thursday, March 13, Purdue University Northwest defeated #16 Midland University by a final score of 9-4 to move on to this match-up against the Beavers. A first time ever match-up between Minot State University and Purdue University Northwest in the ACHA National Tournament should make for an exciting start to the tournament for the Beavers. 

Players to watch:

Joey Moffatt is the leading Beaver forward in points scored with 47 points on the season. Colby Joseph is the leading Beaver forward in goals scored with 27 goals on the season. Matthew Yakubowski is the leading Beaver defensemen in points scored with 33 points on the season. Logan Rands is the leading Beaver defensemen in goals scored with 14 goals on the season. Jake Anthony and William Dyke continue to be an impressive tandem in goal this season for the Beavers. Jake Anthony currently holds a 20-2-2 record with a 0.920 save percentage, and William Dyke currently holds a 14-0-1 record with a 0.936 save percentage.

Following the ACHA National Tournament game one match-up against Purdue University Northwest, the Beavers will be back in action, with a win over Purdue University Northwest, on Sunday, March 16, in a quarterfinal game against TBD at 8:00 pm in St. Louis, Missouri.
