CROOKSTON, Minn. -- Connor Hill set the tone on the hill and Michael Williamson provided two big hits at the plate as the Minot State baseball team started the day with a 2-0 win over host Minnesota Crookston in a mid-week, NSIC doubleheader.
The host Golden Eagles bounced back to take the nightcap, 13-2 in 7 innings.
Following the quick road-trip, the Beavers (13-17 overall, 8-14 NSIC) are back home to host Sioux Falls in a three-game weekend series at Corbett Field with a doubleheader scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, and a single game at noon on Sunday.

CROOKSTON, Minn. -- Senior Connor Hill, sophomore Conner Meldrim, and sophomore Ayden Sauerbrei combined to throw a shutout on Wednesday as the Minot State Beavers blanked the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles 2-0.
Hill (1-2) started and picked up the win for Minot State, going 5.1 shutout innings while giving up one hit, walking two, and striking out four. Sauerbrei was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two for his fourth save this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers took the lead for good in the fifth, scoring for the first time in the inning. Junior Michael Williamson put Minot State on the board with a two-out solo home run off junior Isaac Roers.
The Beavers then tacked on a run in the seventh inning to complete their scoring in the ballgame. That run came across on an RBI single off the bat of Williamson.

Junior Jake Seibert (0-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Minot State.

Trailing 12-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Minot State plated two runs when Pegg left the yard with sophomore Kekoa Munos aboard. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as Minnesota Crookston added one run to their tally on the way to a 13-2 final.
