Trenton Curtis put two in the back of the net and Minot State goalie
Blake Sittler picked up his fifth win in as many starts, as the No. 1-ranked Beaver men's hockey team beat No. 17 Midland, 4-1 on Saturday night at the Masya Arena in Midwest Collegiate Hockey action.
With the win, the Beavers (17-1-1-1 overall, 9-1-1-1 MCH) complete both the two-game weekend sweep and four-game season sweep of the Warriors (7-13-3-1, 5-9-3-1).
Minot State now heads East to St. Louis, Missouri for games at Maryville next Friday and Saturday.
Saturday at the Maysa Arena,
Jaxon Grosdidier and Curtis got things rolling for Minot State, scoring goals 45 seconds apart midway through the first period for a quick 2-0 Beaver advantage.
Sheldin Howard scored 9 minutes, 31 seconds into the second period, pushing the lead to 3-0 before a late second-period goal for Midland broke up the shutout for Sittler, who finished with 15 saves playing 55 minutes, 27 seconds.
Curtis netted his second of the night 2:22 into the third, icing the win for the Beavers, who sent in
Sheldon Biggley for the final 4:33 of action, his debut in net this season for Minot State.
