Beavers goalie Hannah Palumbo nets 1st shutout against Lindenwood

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - Hannah Palumbo turned aside 29 shots for her first collegiate win and first collegiate shutout, leading the way for 5th-ranked Minot State as the Beaver women's hockey team opened the WMCH Showcase with a 6-0 win over host Lindenwood on Thursday afternoon.

Olivia Opheim netted what proved to be the game-winner for the Beavers (12-6-5 overall, 8-6-1 WMCH), scoring with 3 minutes, 20 seconds left in the first period.

Krissy Rink's first of two goals on the day opened up a big second period for Minot State, which also got goals from Kinley Brassard and Addison Dyck for a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Rink and Journey Miller added third-period goals for Minot State, which outshot Lindenwood 69-29 on the day.

The Beavers wrap up the weather-shortened WMCH Showcase playing at No. 4 McKendree on Friday, as Minot State's scheduled game against Liberty on Saturday, and the WMCH All-Star Game on Sunday, have been cancelled because of the threat of a winter storm in the St. Louis, Missouri, area this weekend.
