Minot State Women's Wrestling hosted a home tri-dual on Sunday afternoon, squaring off against Dickinson State and Bismarck State College. The Beavers dropped a hard fought opening dual to Dickinson State before rebounding with a solid team victory over Bismarck State to close the day in front of the home crowd.
In the first dual against Dickinson State, Minot State fell by a score of 28-19 in a competitive match up that featured several bonus-point victories on both sides. The Beavers picked up key wins from Lovey Beebe at 138 pounds, who earned a fall late in the third period, and
Haleigh Lematta at 145, who secured a technical fall to add valuable team points.
Lillian Garrett also impressed at 180 pounds with a first-period fall. Despite those performances, Dickinson State capitalized in multiple weights with falls and technical falls to edge out the Beavers in the team score.
Minot State responded well in its second dual of the afternoon, defeating Bismarck State College 30-17. The Beavers built momentum early with several wins by forfeit before adding decisive victories on the mat. Lovey Beebe continued her strong day at 138 pounds with an 8-0 decision, while Lematta,
Madison Parson,
Lillian Garrett, and
Aniya Herbin each contributed points for Minot State. Parson, who was recognized prior to the dual for senior night, delivered a strong effort in her final home appearance, competing with confidence and leadership that set the tone for the lineup.
Kaiya Lopes also picked up a win at 103 pounds, helping the Beavers secure the team victory and end the tri-dual on a high note.
