MINOT, N.D. – A pair of third-period goals kept the Minot State women perfect against in-state rival Jamestown.
Marlie Rutherford tied it, then
Kaitlyn Snyder netted the winner, as the 5
th-ranked Beavers battled back in the final period for a 2-1 victory over the 10
th-ranked Jimmies in ACHA women's hockey action at the All Seasons Arena on Friday afternoon.
With the win, Minot State (8-6-5 overall, 6-6-1 WMCH) improved to 26-0 all-time against Jamestown (4-10-1, 3-10-1), and the Beavers also gave 9
th-year head coach
Ryan Miner career win No. 198.
The two teams are back in action Saturday at the All Seasons Arena with puck-drop scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
After an early third-period goal by Jamestown's Jayden Baker broke the scoreless duel, the Beavers battled back as Rutherford tied it, finishing off assists from
Makenna Beard and
Karlyn Gudz just 2 minutes, 36 seconds later.
Then, with 6:47 remaining, Snyder finished off an assist from
Payton Lang for the winner.
Jillian Ackerman finished with 14 saves in goal in the win for Minot State.
