Beavers net pair in 3rd period to skate past Jamestown

MINOT, N.D. – A pair of third-period goals kept the Minot State women perfect against in-state rival Jamestown.

Marlie Rutherford tied it, then Kaitlyn Snyder netted the winner, as the 5th-ranked Beavers battled back in the final period for a 2-1 victory over the 10th-ranked Jimmies in ACHA women's hockey action at the All Seasons Arena on Friday afternoon.

With the win, Minot State (8-6-5 overall, 6-6-1 WMCH) improved to 26-0 all-time against Jamestown (4-10-1, 3-10-1), and the Beavers also gave 9th-year head coach Ryan Miner career win No. 198.

The two teams are back in action Saturday at the All Seasons Arena with puck-drop scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

After an early third-period goal by Jamestown's Jayden Baker broke the scoreless duel, the Beavers battled back as Rutherford tied it, finishing off assists from Makenna Beard and Karlyn Gudz just 2 minutes, 36 seconds later.

Then, with 6:47 remaining, Snyder finished off an assist from Payton Lang for the winner.

Jillian Ackerman finished with 14 saves in goal in the win for Minot State.
