JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Senior
Holter Bridwell led the way for the Minot State men's cross-country team Friday at the Jimmie Invitational, turning in a career-best 8K time of 26:09.9 to finish fifth overall at Parkhurst Campground.
Bridwell's career-best performance set the tone for the Beavers on the men's side, as
Jake Jenkins followed in 18th place in 27:00.4.
Nolan Berglof was next in 41st at 28:23.5, followed by
Zander Grover in 51st at 29:15.2 and
Auston Lemer in 53rd at 29:41.3.
The Minot State men finished fifth out of eight teams with 133 points, while NCAA Division I North Dakota State won the team title with 23 points.
"We ended up having several personal bests on the men's side, being our number one with a personal best on a tough course coming off of a pretty hard training week," Minot State head coach
Erik Stevens said. "I wanted these guys to use it as more of a tempo type of day and they did a great job with it."
On the women's side,
Bailey Wride led the way for the Beavers, finishing 10th overall on the 6-kilometer course in 22:45.8.
Brooklyn Kitchens was next for Minot State, finishing 27th in 24:09.1, while
Julie Folk was 31st in 24:28.0.
Hannah Senechal followed in 32nd at 24:33.2, and
Addyson Wendt rounded out the Beaver women in 35th at 24:38.4.
The Minot State women finished fifth out of six teams with 123 points, while North Dakota State took first with 30 points.
"The ladies executed really well with a solid packed time with the group using the run as a tempo as well today," Stevens said.
Stevens was pleased with the way both groups approached the meet, using the race as a strong workout during a demanding portion of the season.
"I was really looking forward to today as just a really solid workout for the group," Stevens said. "I think we are in a very great spot moving into the final portions of the season."
The Beavers return to action Friday, October 23, at the UMary Tune Up in Bismarck, North Dakota, their final regular-season race before the NSIC Championships.
