SPRINGFIELD, MO – The Minot State men's hockey team fell to the Drury University Panthers, 3-2, in overtime Friday night during the Beavers' second game of their three-game trip through Missouri. Minot State moves to 3-0-1 overall on the season.
Drury opened the scoring midway through the first period with a power-play goal. The Beavers responded with just 1:07 remaining in the period when Trenton Curtis found the back of the net, assisted by Matthew Yakubowski and Colby Joseph, sending the game into the first intermission tied at 1-1.
The Panthers regained the lead just 1:30 into the second period. Minot State answered late in the period as Walker Jerome scored with 43 seconds remaining. Yakubowski and Ty Plaisier recorded assists on the goal, tying the game at 2-2 heading into the third period.
Neither team was able to score in the third period, sending the game to overtime tied at 2-2.
Three minutes into overtime, Drury scored the game-winning goal to secure the 3-2 victory.
Goaltender Blake Sittler turned in a strong performance for the Beavers, recording a .925 save percentage.
The Beavers will close out their Missouri trip Saturday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. against Drury University.
