REGINA, Saskatchewan – Minot State women's hockey fell 3-1 to the University of Regina Cougars Friday night, moving the Beavers to 2-1 for the season.
The Beavers opened the scoring 4:51 into the first period when Paige Kozak found the back of the net, assisted by Marlie Rutherford.
Regina responded with a goal midway through the opening period, sending the teams into the first intermission tied 1-1.
The Cougars took the lead halfway through the second period, scoring the only goal of the period to give Regina a 2-1 advantage heading into the third.
Regina added an insurance goal 7:52 into the third period, securing the 3-1 victory over the Beavers.
Minot State will have one more opportunity against Regina this weekend, facing the Cougars on Saturday at 4 p.m.
