MINOT, ND – The Minot State men's hockey team travels to Fremont, Nebraska, this weekend for a two-game series against Fremont University. The Beaver women's hockey team will also face the Warriors in a two-game series Friday and Saturday as well.
After a shootout loss in a lone matchup against the University of Mary, the Beavers look to rebound from their close loss. Minot State enters the weekend with a 6-0-1-1 record, with the only blemishes coming in an overtime loss against Drury University and a shootout loss against Mary. The Beavers will look to continue their strong start against a Warriors team that sits at 4-4 overall and has won four consecutive games after a challenging start to the season.
Leading the way offensively for the Beavers is Colby Joseph, who has recorded seven goals and seven assists for 14 points through eight games. Joey Moffatt follows with six goals and five assists, while Matthew Yakubowski has contributed four goals and five assists.
Minot State's offensive production has been complemented by a balanced goaltending rotation. Jase Wareham and Blake Sittler have each appeared in three games, while Will Dyke has seen action in two.
Wareham leads the group with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage through 180 minutes of action, providing a strong presence in the crease for the Beavers.
Minot State opens the series Friday at 8 p.m. before returning to the ice Saturday for a 7 p.m. puck drop in Fremont, Nebraska.
