JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The top-ranked Minot State men's hockey team started the final week of the regular season in convincing style Wednesday night, skating past No. 7 Jamestown 7-3 on the road.
Six different Beavers scored on the night, starting with a goal by
Joey Moffatt just 31 seconds into the action, which set the tone for the evening.
Sheldon Howard put Minot State (23-1-1-1 overall) on top 2-0 midway through the first period before Jamestown got on the board in the opening 2 minutes of the second period.
Minot State responded 1 minute, 57 seconds later with a
Jay Buchholz goal, then
Colby Joseph out the Beavers well in control, on top 4-1 midway through the second period.
The two teams trade goals late in the session, with
Christian Kadolph making it a 5-2 game, and Moffatt added his second of the night midway through the final period.
Both teams then traded a goal each late in the third with
Reece Henry's goal with 2:25 left capping the scoring.
William Dyke finished with 20 saves in goal in the win for Minot State, which gets a day off before hosting No. 9 Calvin (Mich.) on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. each night at the Maysa Arena to close out the regular season.
