JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Pitching powered the Minot State softball team on Saturday as Kierra Fournier struck out 7 in a three-hit, 4-0 shutout against Bismarck State, while transfer Taylor Kruser earned her first win as a Beaver, striking out 5 in a 4-3 win over Concordia College at the Nelson Family Bubble Invitational No. 2 hosted by Jamestown.
The Beavers (6-2 overall) now return home to host Bismarck State in a doubleheader on Wednesday at the MSU Bubble, starting at 5 p.m., then make a return trip to Jamestown to take on the Jimmies on Thursday in a doubleheader scheduled for 5 p.m.
MINOT STATE 4, CONCORDIA COLLEGE 3
JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Kierra Fournier (1-1) earned her first win of the season in the circle, striking out 7 and scattering three hits in a complete-game, 4-0 shutout of Bismarck State.
The Beavers plated all four runs in the third inning, led by Anna LaCount, who hit a 2-run home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers opened the scoring with an RBI triple by Micaela Resler in the bottom of the third inning. Sara Van Wickler added an RBI double, making it 2-0, then Van Wickler scored on LaCount's 2-run home run for all the game's scoring.
The Mystics left the bases loaded in the top of the first inning, then never got a runner past second base after that against Fournier.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The Minot State Beavers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 4-3 win over the Concordia Cobbers on Saturday.
Taylor Kruser (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minot State. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on 10 hits, allowing one walk and striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Minot State scored twice, with one run coming across on a Sarah Misner RBI single and another on Mallory Hoogensen's single.
The Beavers then lost some of their lead but expanded on their advantage in the third inning after the Cobbers cut it to 2-1. Minot State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Hoogensen, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Beavers.
Minot State kept Concordia without a run before building their lead to 4-1 the following inning, scoring on a Micaela Resler RBI fielder's choice.
Concordia put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Minot State still held on for the 4-3 win.
