MANDAN, N.D. – Different venue, same result.
Playing the back half of a home-and-home series, the No. 1-ranked Minot State men's hockey team left no doubt in rolling past the host Marauders for the second straight date, beating No. 11 Mary 8-2 on Wednesday night.
At home at the Maysa Arena on Tuesday night, the Beavers (22-1-1-1 overall, 12-1-1-1 MCH) beat the Marauders 4-2 to start the two-game, mid-week series.
Building off the momentum of Tuesday's win, Minot State went right to work with a Matt Eagan goal just 2 minutes, 34 seconds into the action on the road.
Joey Moffatt then pushed the Beaver lead to 2-0 with 5:17 gone before the Marauders briefly fought back with a goal 1:34 later.
Minot State's
Jeremy Dewar put the Beavers back on top by a pair with 7:45 left in the first, then
Logan Cyca made it 4-1 before the end of the opening stanza.
Comfortably in control, the Beavers kept adding on, preventing the Marauders of ever thinking comeback.
Trenton Curtis made it 5-1 in the second, and after the Marauders final goal of the night early in the third, Moffatt scored his second of the night before
Sean Williams scored two more for Minot State, his first two goals in a Beaver uniform.
William Dyke finished with 31 saves in goal for Minot State, which is back on the ice and on the road next Wednesday when they play at Jamestown.
