VIERA, Fla. — The Minot State Beavers used a surge of power hitting and a big sixth inning to roll past the Post Eagles 9-1 on Tuesday.
Senior Calley Olson (2-0) earned the win in relief, tossing three innings and allowing one run on three hits. Senior Kierra Fournier got the start, striking out four over two scoreless innings.
Senior Paige Kellogg led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and five RBIs, including a grand slam. Freshman Lanae Kimbley added a two-run homer, while freshman Jorja Franzwa chipped in with a solo shot as part of a multi-hit effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State struck first in the opening inning when Kellogg delivered an RBI double to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.
The Beavers added to their advantage in the third inning on Kimbley's two-run home run, extending the lead to 3-0. Franzwa made it 4-0 in the fifth with a solo blast before Post got on the board to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Minot State broke the game open in the sixth, erupting for five runs. Kellogg highlighted the inning with a grand slam to push the lead to 9-1, and the Beavers cruised the rest of the way.

MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Minot State Beavers came up short in an extra-inning battle Tuesday, falling 4-2 to the Wayne State (MI) Warriors.
Junior Taylor Kruser (2-5) took the loss in relief, allowing two runs (one earned) over three innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Wayne State jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Minot State answered in the fourth inning on an RBI single from sophomore Sarah Misner to make it 2-1.
The Beavers pulled even in the sixth when Misner delivered again with another RBI single, tying the game at 2-2.
The game remained deadlocked until the Warriors pushed across two runs over the final two innings to secure the 4-2 victory.
