WAYNE, Neb. -- Minot State used a last at-bat rally to win game two and split an NSIC Doubleheader at Wayne State on Saturday.
The host Wildcats took the opener 3-1 before the Beavers (29-21 overall, 14-12 NSIC) rallied in the top of the seventh inning for a 3-2 win for the split.
Minot State now returns home to close out the regular season by hosting Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday and Sioux Falls on Sunday at the Scheels South Hill Complex.
GAME 1 | Wayne State 3, Minot State 1
WAYNE, Neb. -- Senior Paige Kellogg went 2-for-3, but the Minot State Beavers still came up short on Saturday, and lost to the Wayne State Wildcats by a final of 3-1.
Senior Kierra Fournier (8-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State. Senior Calley Olson was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking one, and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Minot State got an RBI single from junior Maizy Whitlow, scoring junior Taylor Eatherton from third base. Wayne State then scored two times over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 3-1 win.

WAYNE, Neb. -- The Minot State Beavers rallied from down 2-1 in the sixth inning to win in thrilling fashion, scoring two runs in the seventh to secure a 3-2 victory over the Wayne State Wildcats on Saturday.
Junior Katie Newberry (10-5) got the win out of the bullpen for Minot State. The right-hander went 2.1 shutout innings, giving up one hit, one walk, and striking out three. Sophomore Sarah Misner started the ballgame and went 4.2 innings, surrendering two runs, one earned, on five hits, walking two, and striking out four.
Offensively, the Beavers were led by senior Sara Van Wickler, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a walk and an RBI. Senior Raivyn Millions furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Senior Mallory Hoogensen also helped out for Minot State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
