Minot State split Friday's doubleheader with Wayne State (NE), falling 8-3 in game one before bouncing back with a 6-5 walk-off win in 10 innings to move to 12-17 (7-12 NSIC) on the season. The Beavers will look to carry that momentum into tomorrow's match up, as they face the Wildcats again at noon.
GAME 1 | KEARNEY, Neb. --Junior Cowen Meyer collected three hits, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the Wayne State (NE) Wildcats 8-3 Friday.
Senior Jack Seibert (0-2) got the ball to start for Minot State (11-17, 6-12) and took the loss. Junior Keith Shelton was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits.
In addition to his three hits, Meyer had a double and two RBIs to lead the Beavers. Junior Colton Bagshaw compiled a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a triple. Senior Michael Williamson also chipped in for Minot State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Bagshaw came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board.
The Beavers lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fourth trailing 6-1. Minot State picked up two runs when a single from Meyer brought home Williamson and freshman Jacob McLean, which tightened the Wildcats lead to 6-3. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as Wayne State (NE) added two runs to their tally on the way to an 8-3 final.

KEARNEY, Neb. --The Minot State Beavers responded from tied 5-5 in the eighth inning to win in exciting fashion, rallying to secure a 6-5 walk-off victory in the 10th inning over the Wayne State (NE) Wildcats Friday.
Freshman Thomas Mitchell (2-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minot State (12-17, 7-12). The right-hander went three innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Freshman Jacob McLean drove in two runs for Minot State with a single, that scored junior Colton Bagshaw and junior Vinnie Gates.
The Beavers lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the eighth trailing 5-2. which evened the score at 5-5.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the tenth, when Minot State walked it off on an RBI single off the bat of freshman Mason Boyken.
