Beaver baseball's season ends in loss to Mary

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Senior Michael Williamson collected three hits, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the Mary Marauders, 8-2, on Thursday in an elimination game at the NSIC Tournament.

The loss ends Minot State's season as the Beavers finish the year with a 26-25 overall record.

Junior Ayden Sauerbrei (4-3) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss.

Williamson's three-hit day led the Beavers offensively. Senior Noah Madas put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Junior Vinnie Gates came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State on a Wyatt Toth RBI fielder's choice to get the Beavers on the board.

The Marauders then rallied to score eight runs and take an 8-1 lead before the Beavers got back on the board in the eighth. The big blow for Mary was a grand slam off the bat of Bryce Leafgren in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Minot State picked up a run on Madas' two-out solo home run off of senior Aiden Johnson, which brought the score to 8-2 in favor of the Marauders. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
