Minot State women’s cross country adds pair of runners

MINOT, N.D. – A busy summer of recruiting landed the Minot State women's cross-country team a pair of new runners who will bolster the Beavers' roster this fall.

Minot State head cross-country coach Erik Stevens is pleased to introduce a pair of North Dakota ladies who join the Beavers in Hannah Senechal from Rugby and Brooklyn Kitchens from Williston.

Senechal was the top finisher for the 4th-place Rugby Panthers at last fall's Class B North Dakota State Cross-Country Championship, finishing 15th in 20 minutes, 17.1 seconds on a girls 5-kilometer course.

Senechal, who plans to major in Early Childhood Education at Minot State, also finished 12th in the 800 meters for Rugby at the Class B North Dakota State Track & Field Championships as a senior, and helped the Panthers' 4x400 relay finish 5th and the 4x800 relay finish 10th at this year's Class B state track meet.

"We're very excited to have Hannah on board with us," Coach Stevens said. "Whenever you have an opportunity to have someone that has been a state meet qualifier, it is a great addition to the team."

Kitchens is a state qualifier, too, helping Williston High School win the girls Class A Cross Country title last fall as she finished the girls 5K course in 19:34.4, and was 18th individually.

"Brooklyn is a great addition to our distance crew," Stevens said. "I was thrilled to get the commitment from her! She has a high ceiling and a presence when she is around her team that brings confidence to the line!"

Along with winning a team state title in cross country, Kitchens finished 16th at the Class A state track and field meet in the 1,600, was 25th in the 800, and helped the Coyotes' 4x800 relay finish 4th and the 4x400 relay finish 13th as a senior.

Senechal, Kitchens, and the rest of the Minot State women's cross-country team open their 2026 season later this week as the Beavers compete at the Dragon Twilight hosted by Minnesota State Moorhead this Friday.
